Genesco Names Caplan to Head Branded Group

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct 1, 2002 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Genesco Inc. (NYSE: GCO) today named Jonathan D. Caplan chief executive officer of the Company's Branded Group and president of Johnston & Murphy. As chief executive officer of the Branded Group, he will have general oversight responsibility for Dockers Footwear in addition to his direct responsibility for Johnston & Murphy.

Caplan has served as president and chief executive officer of Hi-Tec Sports North America since 1998. After leaving Genesco in 1992, he was employed by Stride Rite Corporation, as president first of its Children's Group, then of its Ked's Footwear division, from 1992 to 1996. He was vice president, New Business Development and Strategy, for Service Merchandise Corporation, from 1997 to 1998.
